Spicy Beer Cheese is an old fashioned cheese dip that requires no cooking and lots of will power. I could eat the entire bowl! It’s an easy light lunch or weekend lazy supper with crackers. I love this stuff!
Definitely Not Queso
This is definitely not a queso dip. Spicy Beer Cheese is more of a German style beer garden snack. But as I am a true Texan, I gotta add some spice! Pepper jack cheese is excellent for this appetizer. You can use mild chddar cheese, but I prefer sharp cheddar for a good bite. If you want to add more spice, simply add more Tabasco sauce! You can customize this cheese spread so many ways!
One ingredient that is not necessary for Spicy Beer Cheese is added salt. Cheese by itself is rather salty. Worcestershire sauce has loads of sodium too, not to mention any pretzels you serve with the beer cheese.
Customize it!
If you want a snazzier beer cheese, you can always add chopped bell peppers, chopped red onions or chopped seeded cucubmbers for extra texture. Bacon bits are not a bad idea either. I love this beer cheese by itself, but topped with loads of chopped scallions for a bit of fresh flavor.
In addition to crackers and pretzels, this amazing cheese spread is delicious on raw vegetables as a dip. Baked potatoes are absolutely heavenly when stuffed with beer cheese. It is also delicious when slathered over corn on the cob. I enjoyed mine on garlic toast with a little ham on top. Yum!
Spicy Beer Cheese is a snack you can enjoy year round. It’s great in the summertime because there is no required cooking. It is also an easy pleaser during footbal season, when the weather is crisp. Can an appetizer be hearty and light at the same time? Well, this one is!
