Avocado Ranch Dressing is a fresh version of regular ranch dressing. We really love it…here at the ranch!
Delicious on fresh greens
Actually, the original version of ranch dressing started in California, not Texas. I am guessing they called it ranch dressing because of the buttermilk and sour cream in the recipe – two old timey country ingredients. Ranch has become the. Go to condiment here in the United States. However, there is nothing saying we can’t update it a little!
This Avocado Ranch Dressing is excellent on salads, of course. I made a roasted chicken salad with bacon and cherry tomatoes. This was a perfect match! But I also used this dressing as a foundation for an amazing breakfast egg sandwich. And I am not going to lie, it is excellent on home make tortilla chips.
Pairs well with Tortilla Chips
In fact, for the salad that I made, I cut corn tortillas into thin strips and then fried them in avocado oil. You make these strips just like you would make homemade tortilla chips. However, they are sliced about ⅛”(.25cm) wide instead of in wedges. The frying time is greatly reduced as well because they are so thin. But they are perfect on top of this fresh chicken salad.
If you have an allergy or aversion to dairy products, this Avocado Ranch dressing works very well with dairy substitutes. Cashew yogurt can be used a substitution for sour cream. Kefir can be used in place of buttermilk. I believe you could use almond or oat milk instead of the buttermilk. However, real ranch dressing is all about tangy flavor. Some almond and oat milks can be too sweet for real ranch dressing flavor. Of course, the mayo you use can be your favorite brand.
Avocado Ranch Dressing is excellent on fish, on steak and yeah, even on pizza. I know you ranch/pizza people are out there!
